You've probably heard the saying, "God is good, all the time". And inevitably someone will echo back, "all the time, God is good."
Words are easy to say though and when things are going well we say things that sound good, even religious. But do we sincerely believe them?
Two senses are used to prove the goodness of the Lord in these verses, tasting and seeing. I love the combination of these two as I can envision something looking like it tastes good and then the actually taste test being either greater or less than what my eyes had believed. We have all been to that restaurant where the picture looked one way but the actual food looked like it had been sitting under the warmer 40 days and 40 nights. But when the Lord says He is good... we can believe it. He's proven it. He's demonstrated it over and over again. Sometimes we have to remind ourselves of His goodness... Remember His gift of salvation to the world. Remember His gift of new mercies everyday. Remember His gift of peace that passes all understanding. Remember His kindness to all generations. He is good. When times are tough and challenging, we can have peace because we can trust He is good and He is working something out for our good. His goodness isn't based on feelings, because my feelings can change .... but His goodness is constant.... and if He didn't do one other thing than make a way for salvation wouldn't that be enough to proclaim His goodness to all generations?!?! Proclaim His goodness. Taste, see, prove His goodness. Remember His marvelous works! He is good.
